Alyssa Milano on Bill Clinton: 'We probably should have investigated the allegations'

On CNN’s Cuomo Prime Time on Thursday, host Chris Cuomo welcomed actress and activist Alyssa Milano. She was appearing to discuss — what else — the Brett Kavanaugh investigation. But the topic turned to Bill Clinton and his multiple allegations, which Kavanaugh supporters use in their arguments.
When Cuomo asked Milano if Kavanaugh should get the same benefit of the doubt that Clinton got back in the ’90s, he got a somewhat surprising answer.
“No,” Milano said of Kavanaugh. “And I don’t think Bill Clinton should have gotten that benefit of the doubt in hindsight.”Four women have accused Clinton of sexual misconduct, and he has adamantly denied all four claims. Three of those accusations came in the ’90s.
“As a nation we were in a different time,” Milano said. “I think that women were continually being silenced. … We gave him the benefit of the doubt, and we probably should have investigated the allegations against him.”
Even though Milano is a supporter of both Hillary and Bill Clinton, it’s not a right or left issue for her.
“This is not about partisan politics to me; this is about humanity,” she said. “Even though this process is so uncomfortable for everyone, we really have to look at it, look at where we want to be, who we want to be as a nation. … I think it’s vital that we get past this and get to the results, which is something that we’re all looking for, which is a just world with equality for women.”
Cuomo Prime Time airs weeknights at 9 on CNN.
