Bronx man beaten on street with baseball bat dies three weeks later

A Bronx man beaten senseless with a baseball bat in a street confrontation died three weeks later - and his attacker has been charged with murder, cops said Wednesday.
Jean Civilne, 44, was jumped near 224th St. and White Plains Road, just down the block from his home in Williamsbridge, about 3:30 p.m. March 20th, cops said.
He was struck repeatedly in the back of the head with a baseball bat by his assailant, who ran off.
Medics rushed Civilne to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died Friday after clinging to life for three weeks.
On Tuesday, cops arrested 32-year-old Richard Smith, who lives in the Highbridge section of the Bronx, for the beatdown. He is charged with murder, manslaughter, gang assault and marijuana possession.
