Questlove, Meghan Trainor, Gavin DeGraw to perform in Northwell concert series celebrating health care workers
These star musicians are using their voices for a good cause.
Questlove, Meghan Trainor and Gavin DeGraw will each perform next month in an online concert series put on by Northwell Health to celebrate health care workers during the coronavirus pandemic, organizers announced Wednesday.
Those weekly gigs, which are part of the #HealthcareHeroes Concert Series, will lead up to a televised event, the “Side By Side: A Celebration of Service," which will be broadcast on Memorial Day by WNBC.
The concert series starts this Monday with a performance by Roots drummer Questlove, followed by DeGraw on May 11 and Trainor on May 18. Each will begin at 7 p.m. EDT and will stream on the Northwell YouTube channel.
Organizers say the event strives to “amplify New York City’s 7:00pm appreciation of essential workers."
“While service is at the heart of all health care workers, first responders and our armed forces, COVID-19 is a situation like we have never seen before,” Northwell president and CEO Michael Dowling said in a statement.
“Despite these challenges, our clinicians have braved unthinkable conditions, sacrificing to treat those who have been infected. As with our veterans and active-duty military, we owe it to them to celebrate their efforts and unwavering commitment to do the right thing.”
The “Side By Side: A Celebration of Service” TV special will also begin at 7 p.m. on May 25. The event honors health care and military personnel and will chronicle the stories of first responders.
