The television business is going totally meta amid the coronavirus crisis, as a new television show will feature television stars talking about television programming.
Beginning May 7, Fox will launch an unscripted series called Celebrity Watch Party, which as its name implies will feature famous people in their homes discussing the biggest shows and news events on TV in the past week.
Actress and former co-host of “The View” Raven-Symoné, “911: Lonestar” star Rob Lowe, “Growing Up Hip Hop” actor Romeo Miller and sportscaster Joe Buck are a few of the boldfaced names that will appear remotely on the debut episode of the unscripted series, based on the award-winning British series “Gogglebox.”
Celebrity chef Curtis Stone, “The Voice” judge Meghan Trainor, “Dance Moms” star JoJo Siwa, and Robert Herjavec (from “Shark Tank”) and his wife Kym Herjavec (from “Dancing with the Stars”) will also appear.
"Celebrity Watch Party is a fantastically innovative, clever and culturally relevant format that brings families together to celebrate all the best films, entertainment shows and news on television on any given week,” Fox’s president of alternative entertainment and specials Rob Wade said in a statement. “We’ve got some incredible personalities inviting us into their homes and onto their couches for an hour of pure fun with them, their families and the viewers at home.”
The network has ordered 10 episodes of the weekly series.
