After the coronavirus crisis recedes, some workers at Twitter will be allowed to continue to work remotely forever if they wish, the company said Tuesday.
The California-based social media giant said it doesn’t expect the doors to its offices to open before September, and it promised a slow, careful reopening of work spaces.
Jennifer Christie, Twitter’s chief of human resources, said the company was uniquely positioned to institute an effective work-from-home policy when the COVID-19 outbreak struck.
“The past few months have proven we can make that work,” Christie said in a statement. “So if our employees are in a role and situation that enables them to work from home and they want to continue to do so forever, we will make that happen.”
Employees who wish to return to work once the pandemic fades will also have that option, Christie added.
